My oil pressure is fluctuating. The pressure is fine when I first start the truck and drive a short distance, after the engine warms up the pressure goes down whenever I come to a stop. While at a stop if I keep the engine RPM's around 1000-1200 RPM the pressure stays fine. The truck is leaking a small amount of oil, its hard to tell from where, but it seems to be from just in front and above the oil pan. I'm mechanically inclined just dont know a whole lot about working on engines. Where could the leak be coming from? I would appreciate any responses by email.
If oil is leaking around the front drivers side of the engine then the problem may be the oil sending unit, it should be located just above the oil filter. Mine was leaking on my '89 and showed no oil preasure, the sending unit should be under $10
If you've recently changed the oil, try installing a new filter, of a different brand. Thry are a bit more complex than people realize and a bad one can cause such fluctuations. Remote, but still a possibility.
