when i shift down and let out the clutch my exaust "pops".. i have a strait pipe with a glasspack on the end and there isnt any pipe after the glasspack... i would like to know any way to fix this because i hate the sound of it when i down shift... thanks.
If you have an AIR pump, your gulp valve is broken or disconnected. What is happening is there is unburnt gases in the exhaust when you suddenly close the throttle. The gulp valve is spozta divert the smog pump air to atmosphere for a few seconds to avoid the KaPow sound.
If you don't have an air pump, then something is out of kilter as far as the idle mixture or idle speed circuit, leaving stuff to blow up in your muffler or exhaust system. Cheaper to fix than to have to replace blown up mufflers and exhaust pipes...

Well, there are many things that can contrubute to this sortta thing... most of the time being not enough back pressure...when i hacked the cat and welded a three foot glasspack on (BTW not a good idea) it sounded just fine with very little poping, however the shorter glass pack i put on multiplyed it to the point i just weleded a turbo muff on and it runs so much better, Kinda like when you pour out a two litre, and it plop plop plops out, same theory, be cause like anyone knows, air FLOWS, like liquid,by the way, back pressure CAN add horeses and is not always a bad think, its just that stock mufflers are set up to have a little to much for sound suppression and gas milage.
sup dude youre air pump or pollution pump is bolted on to a bracket on the prolly right side of youre engine and it has a belt that is meant to drive it just like youre alternator and a/c/ if you have this so good luck and stuff
