bluemoose: For the sake of debate only, in a later post you stated you purchased this truck this way. How could you gage the smooth ride is gone?
If you were going to pull a gooseneck, a lifted truck might not have been the best purchase. Pulling a tag-along should be no problem with a 6" lift! As 02powerstroker stated, take the lift off and have a "cool" truck again, or dig in and fix what you have now. There are plenty of members with lifted trucks that have had the same problems as you!
The advice on the shocks is the first place to begin, will make a world of difference!
Where is the popping noise coming from and when is it happening? I'm taken for granted larger tires were installed,(read your sig, 35" tires) was the speedo recalibrated to get a better picture of fuel mileage?
Let's make it right,
Cruzer
its pretty easy to tell that the ride is gone. it rides retty rough. its more like obvious that its gone. the problem that i have with pulling a tag along is that its hard to find a drop hitch long enough, stong enough for what i like. i have plenty of power to pull with its just that i cant get my trailer level. as far as the gooseneck goes i didnt have plans to pull one until my dad bought a gooseneck after i got the truck. hind sight is 20/20.
the popping noises come from under the truck when i am traversing diffrent terrians. i.e( crossing ditches ect) i think that its my swaybar linkage. thats where the sounds are comming from. if i could find a diffrent mount to elimate the noise i would change it. i do have some overloads on the rear that would definatly stiffen the ride. i might need to find a way to soften them or losen the pressure there. the speedo was never calibrated. not really worried about that. if you have any pointers it would be greatly appreciated. thanks i hope i answered your questions.

How long do you need? I know that all drops are readily available all the way up 10 an 11" drop. Thats what I use with my 8" lift and 38's. What rating are you looking for?
bluemoose89- As far as the sway bar linkage popping, etc. Why not just take them off? I pulled both front and rear anti-sways off mine (have the 6.5" pro comp) and the springs are plent stiff enough to still pull a trailer with ease (6" drop hitch) and not have to worry about the sway. It'll loosen up the ride quite significantly too, at least it did with my truck. I did notice a little bit more body roll in the corners, but I don't mind it at all...
By the way, I know this is a big towing no no, but I've pulled my dads stacker trailer (14k, loaded) on my 6" drop hitch and had no problems.. Yeah it squatted the truck (didn't have trailer torsion bars on) but the sucker held up!
i think i need a 10 or an 11 ich drop but not to sure. where can i look at em and get a better idea. as far as strengh goes the stonger the better. if you know where i could go to look at em that would be great.
I havent really put much thought into removing the sway bar linkage. to be honest i dont like the idea just for the simple fact of parts laying around the shop. thats why i am leaning to finding a better mount and just fixing what i have. i dont want to clutter up my dads place with spare parts. i feel like that would be imposing on my dad. kind of a catch 22 here. do you guys know of a better setup for the swaybar linkage? i am pretty sure that would elimanate the noises.
To give a better picture of what i have the mounts on the frame look like they were just turned around. i know there has to be something better out there.
How much lift are you running? an 11" drop seems a little much for your lift...
... go to a truck accessory store that sells a lot of stuff (this way they keep a lot in stock) and ask them to see their drops. Heck if they know what they are doing they will probably measure your reciever to ground and tell you which drop hitch will work best for you. For most drop hitches the weight rating is going to decrease the longer it goes. I think my 11" drop is rated at 5000 lbs.
