i was out mudding last night w a whole bunch of friends ( 15 trucks ) in a friends field and i was havin fun and then all of the sudden i hear this loud snap sound and my 4wd stops working. i get on the little road and try to disengage my 4wd and it wouldnt do it. and my 4wd still doenst work, i had to unplug the fuse to get to turn the 4wd light off. did i break something back ( please i hope not ) or is it fairly easy to fix
Are you not familiar with mechanical parts? Is that what you mean? If so, get ask someone who is to look at it. Friends, friends dads, dads friends... Once you get it fixed, another option is to not be so hard on it I can do just about anything mechanical, and I still am easy on stuff so it doesn't break. Fixing stuff is expensive. If you do find out what it is, but don't know what the part is, take a picture and put it up. Hopefully someone can identify it for you. Ted
yeah i can have my brother look at it or his friend. i wasnt even being that hard on it, i was in a field that was all mud, and i wasnt even going fast or revving it up high, and then snap. now im worried. couldnt i have just broke a hub???
i dont have the warns i have the mile markers

no it's not in 4wd cuz i took the fuse out, and the hubs are unlocked
yes i was turning when it happened. and that's good that it is fixable!
well i got my name from duck hunting. a duck call company came up w/ a saying about "quack kill" and " quack head " and since i love duck hunting so much i kind of decided to make that my name! and hten i added my truck year and stuff so i could be even more cool!!!
so you can take the fuse out and the hubs unlock? that's kinda nifty...i never knew that!
have you looked your truck over and found anything visibly wrong? i am tampted to say it is the lil synchronizer motor on your t-case! very pricey but very easy to fix....try e-bay, i have seen hundreds on there
nooo the 4wd disengages, i still have to unlock the hubs lol
yeah i looked underneath my truck and all the driveshafts still move but i didnt look buy the Transfer case yet. yeah i have seen threads on here that tell you how to fix that thing if it's the Transfer case shift motor that your talking about
thanks
AH HA i found what the problem is! i took my wheels off and i noticed that whne i turn the driveshaft that's connected to the rotor for the brakes or whatever, that #1 there is an awful lot of play in the ujoints, and number two that the driveshaft itself spins but the thing that's connected to the hubs doesnt! what exactly did i bust now? ddoes it have something to do w/ the spindle?
Get yurself a Haynes and a set of snap ring pliers and dig in. If it's the hub you broke, go no farther. You oughta be able to look in there and see if the u-joint is busted. I can't recall if you can or not. Just get in there and start tearing stuff apart. Then when you can't recall how it goes afterwards cuz you just finished the keg (like Pro and Ivan do), look at the other side for reference.
