Baja, Anyone?
I've been going back and forth between here and southern Baja (BCS) over the last few years, and at the end of November, I'm moving down full-time.
My place is about an hour north of Cabo San Lucas, and there's a few hundred thousand square miles of dusty fun to be had that's about as different as you can get from our NW weather and rainforest. The mountains rise up from sea level to over 7000 feet only about 5 miles back from the coastline where I'm at, and the 4 wheeling is insane!
I know it seems like a long way away, (maybe I'm just used to it) but you can drive from Seattle to the tip of Baja in 48 hours, and once you get there you'll never want to come back.
If any of you all get a chance to head down south of the Border, keep me in mind. Come on by and I'll show you disappearing waterfalls, cave paintings, and surf so big it rattles the windows in houses 2 miles back from the beach. Oh yeah, the Tequila's pretty damn good too!
There's a few places near Cabo that rent decent Quads for folks who want to go riding, and Wide Open Baja has full-on Porsche-powered Baja race cars you can get track time in, or you can take a multi-day trip with them if you've got some extra pesos to burn.
I'll be around for a few more weeks, so give me a shout and I'll give you an email addy you can get me at down south in case you're thinking about it!

I love Baja myself. Used to race cars down there...many years ago. Now I just cruise down there once in awhile in my camper. Have been to Loreto and La Paz. I hope to make it down next August or so.

I guess you got bitten by the same bug I did
! Just curious: Why August? That's the hottest, most humid month of the year around Baja Sur, and mid-August through the end of September is the peak of Hurricane season too... Good surfing on the East Cape though... Say hi if you're going to be down my way! Hasta luego!... Cameron

The reason for August is that the scuba diving is good and so is the fishing. Water is warmer. Used to also go in April, but the water was a lot cooler.
It really doesn't matter too much for me. Any time in Baja is good time. If you'll let me know where you will be down there, I'll keep the info and let you know when we're coming down. I'm getting a little rusty myself and want to get back down there more than I have.
