NP 203 Shift Pattern???
I don't have an Owner's manual, my shop/repair manual doesn't show the pattern, and I haven't driven a 203-equipped truck before.
It feels like an "H" shaped pattern when I shift it out in the street, and I wondered if someone out there could let me know what the pattern is for sure instead of me just messing around out in the rain tonight.
I've got to take off early in the morning, heading for a snowy area, and figured I'd save some time & trouble...
Thanks in advance for your help! Cameron

..And unless I missed something in the post, I'm still confused! Is your pattern in a vertical line? I've been trying to figure it out, and mine sure seems to have an "H" shaped pattern! I looked in the window of another '77 yesterday, and the TC **** in that one had a vertical pattern indicated.
I re-checked the tag on the TCin mine, and it's a 203 for sure. The one non-stock mod I can see right away which might indicate (internal?) TC mods is that I've got manual hubs instead of "auto" hubs. I've got another F250, (parts truck) and it's got "auto" hubs and a TC that shifts in a vertical line. It's missing the TC ID plate, but it sure looks identical to the 203-tagged unit on my (driving) truck.
Weird, huh? I guess I'll take a few minutes and figure it out for sure when it gets light later this AM. I should be able to find a snowy spot by then, and I'll have a passenger who can get out & watch the front wheels/driveline + switch the hubs for me.
I'll be sure to update ASAP. Thanks again for your help!... Cameron
do you have fulltime 4wd or part time?
do you have manuel locking hubs?
does the driveline always spin when driving?
is your t/c chain driven or gear driven? chain would indicate 203 and gear would be 205
is there by anychance a tag on the case you can give numbers off?
so for so many questions but it'll help identify it.
