I have an in-tank fuel pump that needs replacing. Can the in-line fuel filter be replaced with ... maybe a??? ...say an aftermarket high-pressured electrical in-line fuel pump? without having to take out OEM fuel pump from within the tank?
What is going to filter the fuel after you do that? Just replace the in-tank pump and be done with it - that is the only good way to do it. Most in-line pumps need an in-tank lift pump to supply fuel to the high pressure in-line pump inlet because the in-line pump cannot pull fuel up from the tank.
The trucks that came with a frame mounted high pressure pump, used the low pressure in-tank pumps to feed them. They won't hardly run without the in-tank pumps. So the in-tank pump must be replaced if bad.
Could someone please help me with where the fuel filter would be located in my 2000 Ford F170? It started jumping and jerking and cutting out the other day, so I was hoping that replacing the fuel filter would cure the problem...any other suggestions? Please help
