i have a odd oil leak it is coming from the back passenger side in the back and is dripping oil all over it looks to be coming from where the intake meets the head is there any way this could or can it be the rear intake seal
In my experience, a VC (valve cover) gasket leak seems to be able to "move" all over the place and mislead, and almost always a new VC gasket has cured the symptom you describe. Be sure that you put a little dab of RTV at the mating point of the head and intake manifold too, as that's a real likely leak source.
A disclaimer tho, I did replace the intake manifold gaskets too, or should I say, did them with using only "The Right Stuff" RTV for the valleys. It really is some good goo! Steve

Same here. I put RTV on the bottom rear corner of my valve covers now, from about half way to the front on the bottom and up about 3 inches up on the back. I had a terrible oil pond under my truck until I did that. If your valve covers are old, the holes where you put the bolts are probably sunk in and some of those braces might be in order, too.
If you overdid the RTV at the matching point between the valley and side port gaskets, or used too much if using only RTV on the valley, it's possible that it's blocking the oil drain channel from the rear of the head and overflowing. I'd still bet on a VC leak tho, and it's a lot easier to check and try a replacement than to pull the intake with the engine in the truck. You might be able to see a leaky spot on the VC gasket if you are careful removing it? And again, be sure to dab the VC flange match line between the intake and head.
Good Luck! Steve
I been reading up on the leaks from the rear of the intake. I have this problem on my 390. Though it was the head gasket but after reading up on this I try the RTV blue. I have a edelbrock intake also. Do you know the specs for the intake bolts?
I had the same problem with my 390. The oil just poured from the back of the intake. For a temp fix I cleaned the oil off as best as I could with brake cleaner, then just gobbed the RTV Blue on it and worked it in real good. Leak stopped. Since then I replaced the intake but made sure I put plenty of sealer on the back gasket. No leaks. Actually learned about this from someone in this forum.
