I have an oil leak that I have chased for a year.
Replaced: Rear Main, Pan gasket, Valve Cover gaskets twice, and intake gaskets.
It still comes down the back of the block on pass side.
Took it to a mechanic and he said it was a head gasket.. Can oil come from the head gasket at the back of the block?

I would say someone is not sealing the valve cover gasket correctly. Which is not surprising, hit or miss. I like the Fel-Pro with the rubber/metal post combo.

 

2 other places to try: distributor o ring and the area between the intake and the head. New o ring solves 1 st problem and a wad of goop oozing through the gap to the other side solves the other.

 

Back of the intake gasket on the 2.8/2.9 is tricky and can cause a nice leak........if the dist. o ring doesn't do it, try a 3rd intake gasket, and be real careful of the rear area.
