I read that a couple of people had Drive Line or Drive Train Vibration problems. What do you exactly mean by that? What are the symptoms?
I have a 99 Ranger and I noticed that intermittently it will make a loud vibration sound. It sounds like it is coming near the back of the truck right under the bed.
I've looked and so far I can't find anything. It seems to run OK, just noisy.
It does it in any gear including Neutral.
Does anyone have a suggestion how to correct it?
This problem occurs every once in awhile due to the fact of moisture enters in rear end or in my case with a brand new 2000 ranger the rear end wasn`t acting like a limited slip rear end and caused the truck to vibrate and when turning corners acted like wheels were chatering. I had the rear end gear oil changed and had a fricton modifier added i hope this helps.
Thanks for the information. It turns out that I have something vibrating inside my muffler.
My '98 Mazda B2500 had developed a rattle at certain RPMs, and was thus intermittent. The sound was coming from the exhaust area. It turned out that it was just a shield around the muffler that had come loose and removing it completely solved the problem....
Ditto on having the external heat shield mounted to the catalytic converter break a weld, and rattle at certain times. The easy fix is to carefully break the other welds, and remove the shield, or if you're really fussy/picky, have a muffler shop try to weld it back on.
