I've noticed . My '53 with an inline six has one crossmember up front with a riveted flange for the motor mount:
I have another frame that doesn't have the riveted mount but rather an additional crossmember. I'm told the frame is from '53 so it might be for the flathead engine mount. It looks very similar to the y-block engine mount found on George's '56 F-250, Earl:
For what it's worth, that top pic is how my '56 frame looks. With the bracket on the main x-member for the yoke-mounted motor and sans the second x-member.
Also, isn't there a # stamped on the top of the frame rail right in the cowl location? That could be referenced, I'd think.
Thx. fellers, looks like I just have a world of options Avail to me. Holy Moses, like every other thing I've tried to peice together on this old Ford, interchange is a fuster cluck! Oh hey, this is supposed to be fun? It would be funner if I had a bottomless bank Acct. Anybody who knows of a good 55 F100 / 250 long bed rolling chassis for a Y-block out here in the Southwest, gimme a shout.
