53,54,55 and 56 Frames

53,54,55 and 56 Frames

Is the 56 F-100 Frame the same as the 53,54 and 55? I have a 56 body and 53 Frame and I was wondering if they will work together. Thanks much.

To my knowledge, the 53-56 frames are all identical.

The only difference I know of is the 56 running board brackets are different than the 53-55 however, everything should bolt up.

The frames are not identical, the rear leaf spring length differs but that does not keep you from mounting a 56 cab on a slant cab frame. And as Jaye has pointed out, the early frame has a spot on the drivers side running board bracket to mount the under-cab gas tank. If you are using the 56 gas tank that is in the cab or an aftermarket under-bed tank then this will not be a factor either.

As CharlieLed mentioned the rear springs are diferent on the 1955-56 they are 52” I think the 54-54 are 48".

I`ve set my 53 M350 cab on a 56 F100 frame, everything seems to line up ok.

Thanks all. The gas tank will be relocated under the bed and I will go with a coilover springs in the rear so the frame should work just fine. Thanks again.
