ok i need help again..i dont know whats wrong but im hoping somebody on here does..my truck wasnt starting and i didnt think it was getting gas because it had spark and timing wasnt touched from when it was running but the truck sat for a few months. Now i tried spraying starting fluid in the throttle body and it started right up and ran great for over 30 mins.i shut it off and it restarts with no problen.but if the truck sits for a few hours it wont start unless i give it a shot of starting fluid and again it runs fine...any ideas??thanx for your help...tim

 

Carb or FI?

Sounds like a cold start issue. Seems like you are acting as the choke with your can of starter fluid

 

check your fuel pressure. when was the last time the fuel filter was changed

 

It could be fuel pressure. I had a problem like that where my truck would run fine for 25 or 30 minutes idling then you drive it and it would go a few miles then stall, then I could usually restart it but it would be hard to start the next time. I eventually found that the fuel pump was weak after I changed it the truck has been fine that was about a year ago. Hope that helps..
