ignition coil

how do i test a ignition coil on a 75 ford f-150

I believe you just run an ammeter betwen the + and - terminals on the coil. (assuming you have a seperate coil.) Some of the manuals have the resistance values.

Plug the high tension wire into the middle of the coil. Get someone to hold the other end of this wire very close to a metal part of the truck, but not touch it directly.

The other person will take two short wires hooked to the plus and minus of the coil terminals, and while holding the minus on the negative of the battery, just momentarily touch the positive to the battery +. Everytime the wire is taken off the the +, a spark should jump from the center wire to the metal of the truck.
