My audio system went out recently with a loud popping noise -- Now No Audio. I changed the radio, still no audio. I replaced the rear amp mounted in the back on the sub-woofer, still no audio. Question = Is there any other amp or device between the radio and the speakers?
There is an old radio that uses a pre-amplifier between the radio and the speakers, but I don't think it came in the '97 Expe. Do you have more data for your original radio?? Part number, CD, Tape, etc.
I did not find the part number you mention in the system, perhaps the right part number is F75F-18B849-AB. It will be quite difficult and quite expensive to find this amplifier in the aftermarket since it's quite old also, maybe discontinued. You may want to ask for it in a Ford Service center near you. I suggest to replace your radio with a "built in" amplifier, and re-wired all the way to your speakers, this will cost you less.
