20012 Expedition Battery Drain

2001 Expy
I've found I have a 50 MA drain from the Audio circuit which is fuse #1. The drain drops from 70 MA to 20 MA with #1 fuse pulled. My understanding is the 20-30 MA is normal and over 50 MA is too high.
So here is the weird part. I unplugged the radio and cd changer so no audio components were hooked up. The amps stayed at 70 MA.
I'm baffled by this.
Is the PCM between the radio and fuse panel?
I was hoping someone may have seen this issue before and knew the wiring well. I have a Ford DVD but the wiring diagrams are not very good.
Still love this old Ford.

It can take up to 40-45 minutes for the various modules to go to sleep. Are you saying you are getting a 70 mA draw after 45 minutes of no activity?

Be sure you aren't getting any U codes. If your communication network is down for some reason some module may never get the message that its time to go to sleep.

Other than typical check engine codes I'm not sure what U code is. I only have a simple code reader and there is not check engine light.
What ever is between the fuse panel @ fuse # 1 and the radio is drawing amps.

Assuming this is a 2001, did you try unplugging your pre-amp to see if it makes a difference?
If no difference, try it with the pre-amp and radio unplugged.
If still no difference, start tracing the wire.

I have a sub woofer with an amp in it.
From the diagram it looks to be hot all the time. Is that what you are talking about?
I'll try unplugging that and see what happens. Thanks for the guidance.

Yep. That's what I was trying to say.
Fuse #1 (Hot at all times) powers the LG/VT wire.
The LG/VT wire goes into a splice.
TWO LG/VT wires come out of the splice.
One goes to the radio.
Other LG/VT goes back to power the sub amp.

It's possible the drain is within the radio or sub amp.
If you unplug them and the drain remains,
it has to be in the wiring.

Just curious, but where are you measuring the drain for the #1 fuse?

First I did the test by checking on the negative battery cable after the system was asleep.
In the process I found the pulling radio fuse made the amps drop to normal. I then unplugged the radio and cd changer and tested again, but the amps did not drop at all.

CD Changer gets its power from fuse #23.

Unplug the Sub Amp and see if the amps drop.
If they do its in the sub amp.
If not, its in the LG/VT wire.

Thanks. I'm going to wait for cooler temps outside. It's 90 here today.
