i found a light covered by a glass dome under the rear of the truck behind the bumber it is original but what is the purpose of this light the truck is a 75 super cab f 150 it is on the drivers side

Ah !

The B & P are 4" apart on the keyboard so I thought it may be a real word

License plate light ?

How big is it ?

It may be someone's invention for a back-up light though.

It's a license plate light. Bumpers were optional (not many were sold without them) and the license plate mount was under the bed.

Funny. I have the same thing and always wondered why the heck anyone would mount a light back there.

In alot of instances vehicles were shipped without rear bumpers and these were installed at the dealer.But Ford still had to comply with the law. This setup was supposed to be temporary and relocated when the bumper was installed. But not always.
