1988 e150 conversion stereo wiring harness
I'm in the process of fixing all the stupid mistakes the conversion company made when wiring my van, including the stereo power and speaker hookups.
The ford/JBL-style power harness had been taped back in the dash and I found an adapter for it quickly at the local parts store. It's a grey 1x8 pin plug. The speaker cable harness is a different problem. The one that comes with that kit is black and has 4 pairs of speaker-guage wires (similar to the power harness, but shaped a little differently to prevent confusion, I'm sure). There's nothing like it that I can see behind that part of the dash.
The only unused harness behind the dash (other than CB power leads) is one that doesn't match anything I've seen in the aftermarket. It has 5 pins and it's a 4x4+1-on-the-end configuration. Is this to a factory AMP somewhere in the dash, or do the vans sent to conversion companies completely lack the speaker harness leads? I found the speaker-ends in the front doors, so I figure they go somewhere, but would prefer not to take apart the entire dash to figure out where.
Thanks.
