I have a 78 F250 with a 460 in it. The motor has 140,000 on it now. I have chance to buy a 74 460 with 50,000 miles on it for 50 dollars. Would it be worth the swap?
No--run FAR away from that engine . . . and tell ME where it is so I can dispose of it PROPERLY . . . (by putting it into my Mark VIII LOL!)

Seriously, I don't think there were many differences between the engines for those two years; there's no doubt that it will bolt in fine, and many if not most of the exterior items will bolt right up with no problems--and for those that don't, you can just transfer them to the new engine.
