You could try a donor switch from a junkyard or other source, take it apart and see if you can switch the drivers widow switch to the passenger switch. Worth a shot. Usually these things are held together with plastic welds and are not too difficult to take apart
I looked at the schematics, and the Auto down feature has it's own relay specifically for the LF window. I'm no expert at reading electrical schematics, but it looks as if ALL the switches go to the LF switch, and then into the GEM. Too much crap to mess with for my blood, I'll just keep my finger on it for those 2 seconds.
Take a look see for yourself! Schematic (852k file, dial-up beware!)
...Auto up are dangerous since they could be triggered with a head or a hand in the window.
Not dangerous, but it could open the manufacturer up for a lawsuit. We normal people have to live with things designed for the lowest common denominator... The nimrod who would successfully demonstrate the "auto up with head/hand in window" option drives how we people with common sense have to live. With a quick switch change (pull up to close) and a few relays, they could put us in window nirvana.
I would gladly sign waivers at the dealer for them to turn off, or at least give me control of, many of the so called "Safety Items" (read: lawsuit prevention items) they put on my vehicles. I have no small children and just a tad of common sense, so give me credit for:
- seatbelt dingy bell... turn it off
- foot on brake to shift... I don't need it
- daytime running lights... I can remember to turn mine on
- airbags on/off switches
- auto-up/down on all windows
- etc..
I'm glad I'm not the only one who's thought of this everytime I roll down my windows. What's the point of having one auto switch on one side if I have to hold down the switch for the other? Call me lazy but I think it's pretty stupid to have one side setup that way and the other not. At least put an auto switch on my side for the other window, the passenger can hold down the button themselves. I make the payments so I should get the convenience!!

My Wifes Sport Trac has auto up on the rear window, i've tested it and it senses that something is in the way and opens again. Put my arm in and didn't get much of a pinch at all.
So ford has the technology, they just need to listen to us!
Like I said before, GM has it on there trucks!
I asked one of the aftermarket guys on how easy is it to install into my 04,
and this is his reply. Im thinking this may be my next project.
"Thanks for your recent inquiry,
We have had a couple of guys install the module on 03/04 trucks and vans with success. The wiring is almost the same as a Mustang installation with the deviation of one wire color.
You can find a guide which shows the wire connections in the TECHNICAL section of our website at PonyPerformance . The only difference was the red/blue striped wire color which is the switched power to the module. All connections can be confirmed easily with the use of a volt meter/test light. By installing a module on the passenger side it will allow the One Touch Down feature of the passenger window from BOTH drivers side switch and passenger side switch.
Should you have any additional questions please feel free to contact me anytime.
I wish that when you locked the windows, the passenger still had use to use the window. In my case I lock the windows so the kids in the back don't roll-up & down 3000 times in 1/2 hour trip, and the wife could still use her window without saying "down just a little...little more....that's too much.....up just a little". Is there a way to fix this problem?

Same boat here, think my kids hit 3001 times!!!!!!!
Got the Kit and installed it in 10 minutes. Best part is the panel for the switch comes loose from the door panel w/o any tools. And it works Great I would recommend this for anyone out there.
I looked at both places that sell these and they are the same module and price.
I got mine from ponyperformance.com in the specials dept. The switch panel
on my 04 is held in the front with a spring clip (like a door panel clip) and you just lift loose with your hand. No tools. The switch performs Exactly like the driver side, and even works from the driver side also. Only dif is it does not have the click feel when rocked. I even thought of the back windows of my crew, but the kids would be abusing it then...
the new 2005 mustangs have auto up and down for both windows. many ford vehicles have auto open sunroofs but the only one i have found with auto close is the 2005 focus. i wonder why they dont put auto close on the other sunroofs??? it is a nice feature to have. good luck and have fun!!!
