Regarding the overloads not contacting sooner...I'm in the same boat. I haul a camper and the rear squats 3-4" before the overloads work. Some friends have mid-90's F250's and 350's and those overloads are like an inch to 1.5 inches off. I'm sure people complained of a rougher ride back then so now we have nicer riding trucks with over load springs that don't work very well. A local spring shop has a great fix with a multileaf overload that is about 1.5 inches from the pad with twice the capacity of the factory one leafer. I'm gonna "git'er done"!
Good thinking Elkchaser! I am starting to think that 3in. blocks are what I want, I think that the ones on it now are 3 3\4in. tall? Could be 4in. but I don't think so.
I had the same problem with mine and the fifth wheel dealer flipped the axles on my trailer. Makes the trailer higher for when I go up in the mountains. If the dealer hadn't done it for free, i'm not sure if thats how i would do myself. Put a little extra yaw in the trailer.
Don't know if you considered this option, and I only bring it up because I recently learned of it in my quest to "level" my '02 F-250 SD 2WD, but...
I contacted LORD's about their "Velvet Ride" rear shackles, which absorb a lot of the bounce and "hop" we all experience when our truck beds are not loaded down with something (say, 200-300 lbs or more). "Bob" at LORD's (1-800-458-0456; Mon-Fri 8:00a-4:30p EST) explained to me that the Velvet Ride rear shackles will lower the back end about 1 inch. That, combined with the 2.5" taller front coil spings should just about level out the 3.75" standing height difference b/t my front and rear (measured on level pavement, comparing top center of front wheel well vs. top center measurement of rear wheel well).
Just thought I'd throw this in since your "I only need 1" drop" statement stood out when I read it. Oh, BTW, the rear shackles are on sale right now for $159 (noramally $189) for the pair.
That sounds like just what I need!!! The rear of my truck is soooo stiff, I ride and drive SD's every day and none of them seem to ride as stiff as mine, same amount of leafs and all too...Thanks Daryl!!!
