throttle stuck on 01 Explorer

Has any one on this site heard of or been notified of a recall on 2000+ model explorers for stuck throttle. My Buddy is in the hospital with a broken neck, leg, nose and lucky to be alive and not paralyzed.

Any chance the butterfly valve iced up and stuck? Disabling the heat riser may do this. Were there any mods to his air intake setup such as one of those aftermarket air filters?

Failed heat riser????? When there is a pressure drop, as is caused around the butterfly valve on a carb or FI setup, the air temp drops. If there was high humidity, such as driving in fog, maybe the butterfly valve iced up. I've seen this on rigs with carbs but not yet on a FI setup. Just something to think about.
