Oil pressure problem

I have an '81 F-350 4x4, automatic, with a 400.

When my truck is warm and I stop at a redlight my oil pressure drops to nothing. When I rev it up, at the light, the pressure comes back up. I don't hear any knocking or anything when the pressure drops, and when driving around normally the pressure is ok.

I am running 40 weight havoline in it now, but have been thinking of running 50 weight, or dumping some kind of additive in it.

Anyone have an idea of what I should do?

Thanks.
Slee

Well before you do anything else go and get a good mechanical oil gauge, cause the oild gauges and sending unit in these things were pretty crappy and always causing problems. They are real easy to install, then once this is done go and drive it to check it out. It is norma for these motors to have around 20 lbs of oil pressure under idle though.
