How do they sound? Does it help in the HP department? I'm looking for more of a deeper throaty sound! (like a V-8). My exhaust gives that but I want more.
Thanks guys!

Don't have them on my truck yet but from what I hear yes, you'll get a louder sound and a HP and torque gain along with gas milage. Won't be a huge amount that you may notice but its there. I would recommend making sure they are tuned (equal length tubes) and with a Tri-Y end on it. But will help even more on the low end of things. Goodluck.

If you want your truck to sound like a V8, there's a simple weekend bolt on project that will get you the sound and performance that you want. It should cost less than a $100. All you have to do is add two more cylinders to your engine. With some time and effort it shouldn't take you too long.
Yes, I've had headers on my 94 4.0L 4WD Ranger for 3 years. They most definitely added power, probably didn't change gas milage at all, and didn't change the sound a bit. I already had a flow master (3 chamber) muffler on before the headers were installed and it's very quiet. (Which was my goal.)
At WOT, it's a bit more noisy, but nothing like a V8. The V6's just won't ever have the same sound as a V8 due to the timing between the pulses. (Run out to your local drag strip and listen the the buick and other V6's run uncapped.)
Sorry to disappoint you, but the added power is probably worth the job if that makes any difference to you.
No, I prefer power over sound. I want a good set. I have two more questions if you don't mind answering. Where's is the HP gain noticed? In the upper RPM ranger or lower RPM range? and brand do you have?
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 24-Oct-02 AT 09:27 PM (EST)]I have a 93 with a 4.0. I have BBK headers, cleaned out cats and then a flowmaster that shoots through a 3 inch by 18 inch chrome tip before right rear wheel. It sounds very good and I cant tell u how many people think I have a v8,too many!. Ran engine once with headers only, no y-pipe and it sounded good, loud though. I would highly recommend them.
