steering center link question

I have a early model 99 f250 2wd and when I first got the truck the steering center link was very loose in it. You could grab it with your hand and move it up and down. I changed out the center link, and all the tie rod ends and everything was tight again. While I was installing my ford steering stabilizer I noticed I can move my center link again. I can twist the center link in my hand and it moves pretty freely back and forth. It does not move side to side that I am aware of cause the tires are on the ground but you can twist it. Im wondering if this is normal or shoud the center link be pretty tight and not able to be twisted. Any info will help. Thanks

Sounds normal, you should be able to twist it, it should not have up and down movement in the joints.
