Yes!!! You can buy a L engine & put it in any truck, plus exhaust & tranny. As far as the difference between the HD & L engines, buddy is correct regarding the pistons & rings. The rods are the same! The computer plus pistons & rings are the difference.(flat top)

when supercharging any engine all manufacturers put forged pistons and rods in the motor. It would be more economical to add nitrous or buy a crate motor than a lightning engine or supercharge your motor. You might consider trading in on a turbo deisel. you can really squeeze some power out of one of those.
