Question gas filler up?

where do u gas up, i always notice in "myford" magazine that they always have a Amoco (BP) ad in there, like they are the official gas for ford's and all. its hard to find an amoco where im located there was one but now they have switch to shell. where do u fill up? i currently use chevron, its cheaper near me, plus i like the gas i get with it.

I use Sonoco 87 mostly. I only use other stations when I have no choice.

Here's my take on the gas brand issue: I buy my gas from a brand new BP station near my home. I avoid older gas stations regardless of brand name. The older gas stations tend to have old fuel holding tanks in the ground. The quality of the fuel (regardless if it's Sunoco, Amoco or Kroger) is compromised by water, dirt and rust in the old holding tanks.

I speak from experience. If you ever get bad fuel, you will know it. We had a gas station with bad holding tanks near my parents home while growing up. My fathers car would idle poorly, knock and run-on when ever he used their gas. At the time, there were no other gas station near by. The gas station was sold to Total. Total (now Speedway) replaced the holding tanks prior to remodeling the gas station. The new manager told me that they discovered that the old tanks were leaking and full of dirt and rust. We never experienced fuel problems after that.

87 octane. The owners manual strongly recommends 87 octane.

You know... I haven't even read the manual. Does it really say to use 87 octane? Is that what most of you guys are using?

Yes sir. My manual is out in the truck. I can't tell you what page it's on. Use 87 unless you install a chip. Some of the chips require higher octane levels.
