I've bought the cheapest I can find for the last 40 years and I have never had a fuel related problem. $184.9 here today in Southwestern Virginia.

A heads up for you Kroger guys. If you spend $100 in groceries and use your Kroger card you will get $.10 off per gallon on your next fill up.

I use Shell, Krogers, Randall's, or Cheveron. Which ever is closest when I need fuel. 87 Octane is going for 1.79 to 1.85 in Houston.

Same for me on using non-brand. No problems encountered either. BTW, Kroger folks. Some pumps at Krogers will now scan your Kroger card. I have the little one on my key ring and recieve a .04 per. gal. discount. Filled up this past weekend for $1.74/gal. in SW VA.

Gas fill

I filled my 150 today at BP here in Westland, MI. It was $1.79 per gal. I can go to the next city west, Canton, only about a mile and pay about 5-10 cents more. Go figure.

Thanks

In the Houston area here and I like to use mainly Shell or Chevron...or whatever the local Buckies supplies. Generaly I like to avoid Diamond Shamrocks and Racetracks...and also grocery store fuels. I find that overall my car gets better mpg if I stay away from those. And also i've purchased a bottle of Lucas Oil fuel additive and noticed a slight increase of 1 mpg each time i put it in the tank. Btw most my driveing is highway 70-75 mph.

Someone was saying on another web page places like WAWA buy their fuels without additives like injector cleaners. I think it's BS... Has anyone else heard this about no name brand gas stations. All the fuel in S Jersey comes from Philly. I see the same truck go from the Amoco station accross the street to the Shell station. WAWA is 1.79 here...yep fill her up..and stuff it..

JDaddy. I just noticed that you must be from around here, or vacation here... Cool huh?
The guy who owns Brandy Lake Amoco (BP) is named Knute. I am not sure why, but for some reason he sets the prices in town. I just drove by there today and it was 2.01.
The most I have ever seen it at Brandy Lake was the 2.23 that I posted the other day. I probably actually saw it about two weeks ago. I have nothing better to do than record gas prices and I write it down whenever I fill up on my calendar.
I have noticed that the week or so before gas goes down, Knute takes it way up. I don't know what to make of it, and I am not suggesting anything but it seems that he is trying to get the last few bucks out of people's pockets before the price goes way down. Similarily, when Knute sets a high price, you can tell what the price will actually go down to in the next week. The Moto Mart south of town will set thier price to be EXACTLY one penny less then Knute will have it the next week. It has NEVER failed in the 4 years I have been watching it.
Also it depends what time of year/when during the week you check the prices. I NEVER fill up on a Friday, Sat, Sun, or Mon. It will normally always be about 5-6 cents more expensive on those days. This is to get the few extra bucks out of the tourists that will be up here on the weekends.
There have been investigations that have gone on as to why there is so much discrepency between gas prices here, and in other parts of the state.
Last Saturday I filled up in Cromwell Minnesota and paid 1.82. When you figure in the 10cent per gallon gas tax difference between MN and WI, gas should have been 1.92 or so here. But when I left it was around 2.15 or so.
Go figure....
