In my 83 F-100 i have a C6. Dunno if its any good or not. I'm looking for a way of determining if the tranny still may be good other than bolting it back in behind the 300 six.
Fluid isn't burnt smelling, nor black, but kind of a reddish brown color.
I haven't dropped the pan to inspect for metal shavings yet...i plan on this soon.
Any way to determine if a pump, etc has bit the dust??
The 300 and the smallblock fords share the same bellhousing bolt patterns. Any smallblock V8 trans will bolt to the 300 without a doubt. The ones that won't work are the ones for the FE series and the 429/460's. Also the 351M/400's won't work either.
I hope it does work, its not going to be pretty to shell out the $$$ to get 'er fixed.
