i just bought a 03 ranger 4x4 and was just wondering what the advantages were to have torsion bars on the front suspension or if it would be worth the trouble of converting to a coil spring front suspension...which gives more wheel travel is what i guess im trying to ask?
The coilover kits for replacing the torsion bars are very expensive. People that do the upgrade could care less about warrantys because they generally are hardcore offroaders. If you aren't a hardcore offroader then it does not pay to do the upgrade.

So can anyone answer the original question? What ARE the advantages of torsion bar front suspensions? Why did Ford decide to make that change in '98? I'd kind of like to know myself.
