Mistercmk I'm not doubting you, it just seems odd I was at Bestbuy the other day and the guy in the computer section stated that he did not care for Linksys. He wanted to promote/push the netgear line of products. The only linksys piece he would sell was for lack of a competeing brand was the wirless game adapter. Is there that big a difference as I am looking to start a network in my house here soon.

I have always used linksys gear, and it has been excellent for me. Like I said, the reason I wouldn't touch d-link is that the signal strength sucks. I think that the features Linksys offers, along with the increased security makes them well worth it. feel free to pm me if you have more questions, or post here

linksys, netgear, and belkin seem to be the favorites for wireless networking. I stayed away from d-link because of the signal issue. I knew of several people who went with d-link and didn't have the range for thier whole house but people with the other three did.

I went with linksys over the other too because of price. Staples had a free notebook card with the router. If I am not mistaken, linksys and netgear have the same Atheros chipset. Maybe belkin too.

Talking Wireless

I had a Belkin, the dang thing kept hanging when you typed in your password to access the settings. So I bought a Linksys. Wonderful setup, smooth as glass. If all you are doing is surfing the Net, there is no "lag" since the throughput of the router is higher than your DSL can deliver. Haven't noticed much difference printing, but file transfer is slower than the wired PCs.

I went wireless 4 months ago. I gave my desk top (HP - AMD 1600) to my 8 year old daughter. I have Blitzz Super G wireless router and a Super G (w/speedbooster technology) card in my laptop (HP Pavilion zv5000). I notice zero lag. I will never go back.

I highly recommend EVERYONE to go wireless.

I had a linksys wireless network set up at my office. I got everything working fone as far a wireless access to the internet.

The trouble began when I hired a consultant to setup file sharing and encryption. Once he got things set up, we have trouble keeping 2 out of 4 systems on the network. They drop out every 5-10 minutes or so.

Does anyone have any advice on setting things up properly? I have lost confidence in the consultant since they have messed with the systems about 8 hours and things have not got to the point where we can do real work.

I think the linksys was fine until things were changed for sharing and security.

Thanks, Advice would be appreciated.
