Are You Registered?

To vote, that is. I have a hard time with folks that always complain about government and politics, but never take the time to vote or even register. It doesn't matter which side of the political fence you sit on, I hope everyone here is already registered and ready to vote on November 2nd. I will not be available that day, as I'll be spending nearly all of it driving people to the polls. And that's another thing: GET INVOLVED. If who gets elected is important to you, then do all you can to help them get into (or stay in) office. Man the phone banks, help out at the polling sites, drive people to the polls.

I hope this thread is allowed to last as it has started out as non-political; I'm not advocating WHO you should vote for. So, help me keep it that way, folks; let's keep the comments impartial and unbiased. Thanks for listening.

I unfortunately am not. Primarily because as an alien, I cannot vote. I do accept responsibility for my stupidity,however, as I should have stopped procrastinating, and applied for Citizenship, so I could vote in the most important election in the history of the United States..

I am totally bummed about my own stupidity.

I got my father to register to vote at the age of 70. Why did it take him so long? His reasoning was that he was self employed and couldn't afford to take off work to serve on jury duty. Just a couple of months ago he was called for jury duty - less than one year from registering! Boy was he steamed!
In our state he was able to permantly remove himself from the jury duty lists due to age and never had to serve.

ADMIN NOTE: No political comments. They can end up getting you locked out of this forum section.

<!-- voting is a priveledge that is not shared throughout much of the civilized (and not so civilized world).

Statisticly speaking, 50% of the people who are eligible are actually registered to vote and only 50% of those (that's a max) actually go to the polls and vote. That means that 25% of the eligible constituency makes the decisions for 100% of the people. Of that 25%, 75% of them are in the top 10% of the income bracket in our country.

You wanna know why we are a country (the USA anyway) that is run by money, it's because too many of the hard working good ole boys are down and the Hoot-N-Holler soaking up suds, crying about not having a voice in government instead of getting off thier dead __ __ __ and going to the polls. It isn't that hard and you probably work harder than that getting to the bathroom in the morning.

Sorry to get on my soap box. Just how i feel.

HD -->

By the way, yes I am registered.

Yes I am, as is my wife. I have voted in every election in the past 8 years, and in every presidential election since Bush vs. Dukakis (sp?). Regardless, I am not directly involved in trying to get our guy the win. My wife has taken over that responsibility. In fact, my involvement is just giving my wife the time to go work in the party office, help at the polls and do some other work for our party. Needless to say, that I will be voting early on 11/2. My son will also be voting. The only problem with that is he's a few years too late for the guy that he wants to win. He's going to be voting for George Washington. He's 4. By the way, we have a picture of him at the polls in his infant carrier...my wife wants another picture of him this year at the polls again...I think I smell a tradition brewing...
