I'm not sure about anyone else, but I'll be glad when it's over. The "mud slinging" on all sides is getting REAL old.
As much as Ilove politics and debates I'll have to agree. This has gone a bit out of control nowadays. I feel like my truck gets dirty just listening to the ads, there is a bit too much mud being thrown and it ain't even on a muddin trip.
...Secondly I don't vote, because I believe if you vote you have no right to complain. People like to twist that around, I know. They say "well, if you don't vote you have no right to complain." But where is the logic in that? If you vote and you elect dishonest incompetant people and they get into office and screw everything up, well, you are responsible for what they have done. You cause the problem, you voted them in, you have no right to complain. I, on the other hand, who did not vote, who in fact, did not even leave the house on election day, am in no way responsible for what these people have done and have a right to complain as loud as I want about the mess you created that I had nothing to do with. --George Carlin
Amazingly, I didn't have to edit anything out so I could post it here.
I'm not saying I agree or disagree. I just found it funny and thought some of you might get a kick out of it.
I have never voted in any election because i felt it did not make a difference. The people who were elected were going to mess everything up anyway, so why bother.
I registered to vote this year (i'm 27 years old). I finally woke up and realized that I can't let this election go without my input. I know i'm late to the party, but better late than never.
If a candidate was running for office who admitted his mistakes and shortcomings, pointed out his past successes, didn't sling mud or run a disrespectful smear campaign against his opponent (and actually referred to this opponent as honorable), and basicly portrayed an attitude of respect for self and others and actually displayed honesty, would you be more likely to vote for him/her even if you were not eye to eye with this person on all issues?

That would be refreshing, although not likely, and I would vote for him/her. However, there are occasionally candidates like that, but they rarely go far in the muddy game of politics. I knew such a man who ran as a Democrat for Congress. He was defeated and later became ambassador to a small African country. It is almost impossible for a decent, honorable man to win if he does not play the partisan game.
I will be voting tomorrow, a split ticket.

I've been registered to vote since I was 18... I've voted in every election since then. Every so often Election Day falls on my birthday, so there's been a few times I've watched the results on the TV in a bar.
When I'm involved in discussions that turn political, I like to watch as the volume increases, and then ask the loudest person if he/she voted. If the answer is no, I ask them to talk about something else, because they're not qualified to talk on this subject. (The redder their face turns, the bigger my grin gets.)
Have voted in every single election since I was old enough to vote...and home from the service, anyway. I ashamedly didn't vote when I was in the service.
This is going to be an interesting election year..for sure.
i'm not an american citizen so i will not be voting Nov. 2. but i agree this election is really important. not just for america but for the rest of the world. we all prosper and suffer under america's leadership so do the right thing.

Anwering your question with the above smileys would turn this into a political thread and thereby get it closed. The only thing anyone needs to answer is "are you registered?"
