I understand from Motor Trend Magazine that the 2007 model year will have a complete redesign for the Super Duty. Can anyone validate this? I currently have a 2004 F350 Crew Lariat and are considering upgrading to a 05 F450 but may wait if the truck is going to be completely redesigned.
I think a model change (complete) would be a mistake. This truck which is out now is already the biggest baddest best looking truck going. Why screw it up?
Change it to what? Something more TONKA-ish? No thanks. Might as well call it a Hummer DUTY if they do that. Ford outdid themselves with this model. I dont think they even realise it. It is the perfect balance between the best features of the 04 MY Super Duty, and the TONKA concept. It still has a C channel frame - just like medium duty trucks. Many components including the frame itself were borrowed from the F450/550 trucks to increase 250/350 payloads and trailer weight ratings. Whats next?.....boxed hydroformed frame made from sheet metal like the F150? No thanks. The current coil suspension on 4x4's is stronger than the old leaf sprung system and actually is being used on F450/550's - the exact same springs. Also allows much better turn radius. Ford has always made great trucks, but so has the competition. Ford OWNS them with this truck. Would be a mistake to mess it up IMO , and JMHO.
Glad I have an 05 coming, I avoid the 1st model year of any vehicle or camper so I would be waiting for the 08's. I'll trust the guys at Ford to come out with a good looking truck, they've done good with the current crop of trucks and cars.
I got the 2003 knew better than to get a first year of a redesign but had to have a new truck now. Did not know how right I was but Ford did me good and my 2005 replacement truck is on order.
There is a major redesign for 2007, much like the Tonka. From what I read they borrowed styling cues from the Tonka for the 2005 to introduce people to the style a little, like a gradual transition.
