Boost

My reported boost numbers are PSIG not PSIA. PSIG is in addition to normal atmospheric pressure (14.7 PSIA). My truck produces 15 PSIG max boost stock. This is reported both by my gauge and by the MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor that I read via my OBDII scan tool. My waste gate opens at 29.7 PSIA (via MAP sensor) and at 15 PSIG boost via the gauge. Thus, the numbers confirm one-another. The nice thing about the gauge is that I don't have to have my laptop connected to the truck to read the info.

I also discussed these numbers with a Ford technician who indicated that my "old" Pre-October 1999 Garrett Turbo was only capable of 15 PSI boost whereas the later 1999s had a different Turbo that produces closer to 18 PSI boost. This would be consistent with what others are reporting.

Both of us started off with a disclaimer by stating we were not being sarcastic. I for one was not, and I believe Quadzilla wasn't either.

cowboy's ford; You will need more info to make a good comparison. Such as what year truck you have due to several different engines offered, as well as some were not inter cooled, axle gear ratio, and other mods like exhaust, injectors, and intake will make a difference in EGT's, as will pyro probe location.
I would post the temps if I had pyro hooked up

Exclamation

I pulled my 1300 lb 5th up a long 8% or more grade with my 2002 PSD 3.73 differential 4 spd auto with the 1705 on towsafe setting. Ran up floored in 3rd at 55. The egt got over 1350 and had to back down to 50 or a little less to keep it under 1300. Coolant and trans temps did not even quiver. I conclude that you need a guage if you pull floored in the lower gears.
