Gents: I have an '84 F150 which is bone stock and recently started flooding at the carb. Doesn't do it when cold, only when it's nearly warmed up to operating temp. It appears fuel is "burping" from the accel pump nozzle when idling. I've kitted the carb, verified float level and the weight is in the accel pump check well as is the ball....did the flooding trick prior to doing the carb kit also.
Any ideas?
PS....a little background, I recently got this truck from my Dad who has owned it for 16 years. It has not seen much use for several years and had an open ground to the PCM when I got it. Has since been repaired and now seems to be running in closed loop mode but now plugs are fouled from the above flooding condition so I need to get that cleaned up before going much further.
1° Air filter pluged
2° Too high fuel level at bowl
3° Too high level at metering rod
4° Too open or losed idle mixture screw
5° ECM failure at feedback solenoid driver (Short to ground)
6° Too high fuel pressure, over 10 psi.
Perform a general tune up to carb., engine, plugs, cap, wires, etc.
Disconnect feedback solenoid
I just finished kitting my 84 I6 they give you two gaskets for the top of the carb. One is for the non feedback and one for the feedback carb. There is a difference in the area where the ball and weight are one is covered and one is open. You may have gotten the wrong one installed. I believe it has to be covered.
