Rough ride - Shocks?
Looking for advice here. 91 Ranger, 2.9L Automatic. Tire pressure at Ford Ranger recommended 35 psi. Ball joints and tie rod ends fixed a year ago. Has been riding rough for last 2 months. Feels like there's no shocks, but a mechanic's quick visual inspection saw no problems. Says they are fairly new Monroe shocks, good quality. Any advice on how to test for what the problem is and best way to correct? Thanks.

Rough ride - Shocks?
Shove (bounce) each corner of your truck. You should see that the truck only goes up and down a couple of times, much less with each stroke. A bad shock will show up when it bounces several times. This is a rough check and you can check several different vehicles. Usually bad shocks don't show up as a rough ride, they show up as a loss of control and bobbing up and down after a bump. A rough ride is fairly standard in these trucks... Any increase in the last 2 months could come from a variety of sources. Cold tires, hemorrhoids, ... -hehe
