high speed vibrations

well i think i found my vibration....

i only have 4 bolts holding my tranny on....
thats the good news

the last garage that put a clutch in for me three years ago has broken at least two of the bolts right off...

the two on the bottom for sure you can feel part of the bolts inside the block
i am going tomorrow to get the right bolts and thread em in and see how many are broken and how many are missing...

from now on no one touches my truck unless i am right there. this is sucks. i can not believe someone would damage something like that and just leave it and then charge you $300- $400

how the heck im i going to get these broken bolts out without pulling the mottor??? anyone got any tricks to fix this mess!!!!!!!!

hoppin mad!!!!

Unfortunately they do it all the time..I had a old S-10 years ago..took it in just to have it looked at..they decided to pull the valve covers off then mess with the head bolts..then i get a call said they dont know what the problem is and come get the truck..remeber..they never told me they messed with the head bolts...so i pull the valve covers off then start taking the head bolts out..i find that one had been tapped and redrilled..they did it and denied telling me. Well HELLO..i purchased the truck new so i couldn't see any reason there being reason for a broken head bolt that had been drilled and retapped on a brand new engine. After pleny of arguing i did get my $800 that they wanted for doing nothing. It's a shame but it happens more then you think. Good luck on fixing it.

Question

thanx for the kynd response,

i remember breaking the bolts off on the valve covers of a 78 trans am when i was a kid and we used a thing i think it was called an easy out...i think i can get to the bottom bolts with a drill but if the ones on the top and sides are broken i guess i am fridizzled.......

does anyone have any knowledge of anything better than a ez out....

Ez out will work but you might have to drop the tranny to get to them.Heck if you drop the tranny you might get them with a pair of vice-grips{if your lucky}

true that!!!

i guess droppin da tranny is my next project....

i sorta hate to start all this work when i know i am going to drop a 302 in around spring...

what will happen if i just drive it with two broken bolts????

has anyone one used the adapter from advance and kept their original tranny tranfer case etc..grand marq. 302 fuelies are a dime a dozen round here. i can get a good running donor with a slippin tranny for $500 and the adaptor is like $250+-. i have read several walk throughs about the 302 swap but everyone used the tranny that came with the 302 or spent hella money on a new one...

and i have never heard how happy they were with the performance at the end

also these little v6 2.9 put out about 140hp how much gain would a non H.O. 302 give me.. i had a 85 grand marq. lead sled and it wasn't that fast.....

it also had tranny problems and the occasional computer gremlin ...

also will the torque of the v8 rip the 7.5 rear end out under moderate to alittle Nutz driving...( i would not be doing burn outs or severe rock crawling, just alittle mud, some mud and rocky trails) ...
