okay, i got a 2000 ford ranger xlt supercab(3.0). now, i'm wanting to replace my stock headlamps with some ge super blue lamps. i've got the lamps and all...but i can't seem to remove my stock ones. i really can't get my hand in a a position to really assist my need either. my manual says to just pull back on the harness to release it...but that doesn't really work for me too well. any pointers on how to do this easy upgrade?
also, are there any "free" horsepower mods i can do? thanks guys.
It's the normal twist ring that you turn about a 1/4 turn and then the bulb will pull out and then remove electrical connector. If you look between the radiator support and the back of the headlight you can see the ring. It's a tight squeeze to get to both of them, move the battery/air cleaner should help. Be careful with the bulb they break easy and any dirt on the glass will shorten the bulb life.
Also do not touch the bulb with your fingers. The oil off your hand will cause it to burn out. And if you already have touched it (like me when I was told this) clean it. I used windex n a dry terri cloth.
Also, for your "free horsepower" mods, I've heard these trucks are very restricted from the factory. A good free flowing intake and aftermarket exhaust should help it breathe better and might free up 15 ponies or so.
I might point out...these things are not "free", but they are the most simple, and common, ways to get quick horsepower.
There were "free" ways to bump up power on previous Ford engines by advancing the timing, but that's not an option on these new Rangers. So just throw down a little cash for the quick intake and exhaust..see if that helps.

So will fingerprints. Put on light rubber gloves before you unpack the new bulbs.
