I HATE POP-UPS!! there taking over my PC. I use pop-up blocker but it won't stop the microsoft adds. Does anyone have a cure for blocking ALL pop ups??
Completely free, great pop-up blocker, plus you get tabbed browsing. For those of you not familiar with tabbed browsing, you can open multiple windows without using keyboard shortcuts (just a click of the wheel), plus the new windows open up inside the program instead of filling up your task bar. Functions just like IE, except it has all the nice features IE doesnt. Make sure to read the help file to learn full functionallity of the tabbed browsing (you'll wonder how you ever lived without it!).
to stop pop-ups , you need to turn off the messenger service, this is what sends a signal out, that you are online, which is how you get pop-ups. just follow the steps and you will have no more pop-ups.I don't get pop-ups using IE,since i did this...
To Disable the Messenger Service Manually:
-- Click on the Start button in the taskbar
-- Open Control Panels
-- Go to "Administrative Tools" (XP users may need to go to "Performance and Maintenance" first, then "Administrative Tools")
-- Double-click on "Services"
-- Scroll down to "Messenger"
-- Double-click on "Messenger"
-- Change the Startup type to "Disabled"
-- Click "Stop" to stop the service
To Re-Enable Manually:
Follow the above steps, but change the Startup type to "Automatic," then click "Apply," then click "Start" under Service Status.
Note:
You must be logged on as an Administrator for the automatic fix to work.
