Tailgate cable extension
I need to extend the tailgate cables on my '92 F250 about 2". This will allow the tailgate to "droop" down to the bumper so I can load a small car up into the truck bed. If I do this with the tailgate parallel to the ground (stock position), I have interference after the first axle gets past the tailgate and the chassis bottoms out on the tailgate. I had the problem solved with my previous '76 F250 by replacing the scissor support with some chains. I'd prefer some form of cable extension with my '92. Anyone, help!

If your tailgate cables are the quick-disconnent kind, you should be able to unhook them and let the tailgate rest on the bumper. I have a couple that I bought for my '54 but wouldn't work on it.

Thanks for the suggestion, but that won't work. First, I don't want to have the paint on the tailgate scraped off and secondly I need the security and weight carrying capability of the tailgate being supported. The front wheels (the car is loaded rear first) rests on the tailgate during transport.
