I Hate Recalls!!!!!!!

Man I hate um.They are a joke!Last week I worked on approx 60 cars, not bad right?HA!45 of those cars where recalls! Now what moron thinks I can, pull the workorder, get the keys,go out on the lot and get the vehicle, bring it in and put it on the hoist, drain the proper fluid, replace the defective hose, refill the system and bleed it,clean up any mess, test the results, fill out the work order, put the car back outside and then turn in the paperwork, for a whole .2hrs pay! That right 12 minutes!I busted my tail for a lousy 22hr paycheck! What a joke!I HATE RECALLS!!!

KT, go get a fast food job, then you'll love doin the recall work.. Stand on your feet 8 to 9 hours a day (only get to sit down for ~20 minutes to eat), and then have to put up with a-hole customers all day long.... Then try to complain about the recalls.

yea being a tech is not what it used to be

my brother is a mercedes benz A tech, and has been for over 20 years, a career that he absolutly loves, with close to $100,000.00 in tools, and is looking to get in with the local seaport, because of 60hr weeks and getting paid for 20.
I know how you feel

That's easy for you to say, these techs work hard for what they have been promised, auto manufactors and auto dealers are a bunch of thieves.

My job is like fast food only
My Whopper is a 10lb mini sledge hammer!
My Fries are, one,my arm every time I do a stupid recall,(hose close to exhaust)and the customer is ALWAYS a waiter,so letting the engine cool first wont happen. And the second fry is wires after somebody does a zillion watt amp installation.
And my soda is,Baking Soda to kill the heartburn created by RECALLS!Oh by the way,did I say,I HATE RECALLS!

The only recall I did that I liked was on Daewoos. The tiny tin can they mad, I forget the name, but there was a wiring harness re-route on it, it paid .8. I usually took about ten minutes, and did it while doing the pdi's, so I got double pay on the job. These cars were so poorly put together, I would usually just grab the kick panel, give it a yank, pull the carpet back, zip tie the harness, then smack the panel back in. Of course, I usually got the oil changes that paid .3, even though it took fifteen minutes to find the car in the lot. That's why I don't do automotive anymore, besides, there isn't an owner sitting in the office waiting for you to finish the oil change on his submarine...........
