lost power through c6

i've read numerous places that the C6 will rob about 25% of the engines power. Is this correct? If so then (according to this reasoning) if I'm making 300 rear wheel hp and switched to a manual box I would be at 400hp. This seems like alot.

They can suck up to 60 HP at the wheels. A manual may only suck 30. Your choice, but you can fix the c-6 to not suck as much. Call a reputable aftermarket tranny place, they can hook you up.

A friend of mine who used to drag race told me that a Ford C-6 requires 58 hp just to run the front pump. That is because the transmission is near bullet proof.

You can get kits,or some of the aftermarket companies can install the main shaft and planetaries on Torrington roller bearings,or roller washers. this will free up so much horsepower and lower friction inside the case that you won't believe it. Another step that goes along with this is machining the case to accept the bearings.

Check with Ford Motorsports for the conversion kits: #M-7398-F
Supposedly no case machining is required.
