I can't believe this hasn't been discussed before, but I sure couldn't find it...
Has anyone installed/used one of these?
There's a show on the Speed Channel called "Two Guys Garage" which is actually pretty good, and they had a segment on this device.
It is an electronic device that is supposed to prevent rust _anywhere_ on the vehicle. You install a control box, a pad up front and a pad in the rear diagonal from the one in the front.
They seemed to indicate that they work quite well.
The main worry I would have is electrical interference, especially with the pesky OBD II. We all know how sensitive that can be.
They indicated that there is no interference, but it never hurts to ask.
It wasn't terribly expensive, but I forget the exact cost.
It will probably INCREASE corrosion. It runs an electrical current constantly thru the body, a waste of money and energy. Your best protection is Stainless Steel, zinc plating, and sacrificial anodes.
Thanks for using FTE!

I can't believe someone is still peddling one of these. The companies that offered them in the early 90's are all out of business. They should work IN THEORY, but I've never seen one work IN REALITY. Ask your state Attorney General for his/ her opinion- most have already prosecuted these snake-oil salesman. I've struck the words "always" and "never" from my vocabulary, but this time I'll make an exception:
NEVER BUY ONE OF THESE THINGS!!! ALWAYS KEEP YOUR MONEY IN YOUR POCKET WHEN THEY COME KNOCKING AT YOUR DOOR!!
Most new trucks, even Chevies, will take 10-15 years to really rust even in a rust belt (New England) state. If you want to prevent your truck from rusting, give it a good oiling underneath a couple of times a year.
