A few times now when I've gone to put the key in the ignition, sometimes I miss and it gets stuck in the rubber boot that surrounds the column shifter. Curious to see if anyone else has done this. I predict a few years down the line there'll be a lot of trucks with perforations in these boots...
I am with you on that. Sometimes when you dont feel like leaning over to see the key in I stick it right into that boot. The ignition switch is too flush.
yup. been there done that. plus the boot on mine keeps popping off. the two plastic halves that surround the column don't fit together tightly and the don't hold the boot securly.
This is funny...I have totally done this. However, isn't it a great feeling when you put the key in and make it without looking and not hitting the rubber boot? Its almost as if you are becoming one with the truck!
I know what you mean. But now that I just spent around 33K on my Lariat, I am more than careful not to hit the boot. I treat this truck like my third child.
I have trouble putting the key in without looking for the ignition. I don't know what the engineers were thinking when they design the ignition. It's too flush.
