I am considering putting 20's on my 4x4 Supercrew Lariat. Since my truck is a 4x4, I don't want low profile tires like most people who get 20's. However, I am not looking to get huge tires. Any suggestions on a tire size that will maintain the 4x4 look and still be good on the road? Who out there has 20's on their 4x4?
Centerline Crossfire 20x8.5 wheel. This wheel has a 6 inch BS and a +38 offset; just right for the 04 150. Toyo (or other) tires in a 305x55x20 will give you a 33 inch tire that is very wide, but will fit nicely inside the wheel well. This combination will be very quite and smooth for highway driving and balance out very well. The new Donahoe spacer kit (or other) will work nicely with this tire wheel set-up.
Rancho 4 inch lift. Max wheel back space 6 inch. Toyo OPEN M/T 35 x 12.5 x 20...
Centerline Crossfire 20x8.5 wheel. This system can also use your stock rim which I have seen some people put a 35 inch tire on 17 x 7.5/18 x 7.5 rim
Sounds like the package I am getting. The 6 inch lift requires back space 5 inches. Hard to find a 20 inch rim, but there some Centerline Tomahawk series.
Agree putting LOW PROFILE tires on 4x4 IS JUST WRONG......

Thanks Squirrel. Truck looks good. Did you have to do anything to get those to fit? Level the front, etc?
No leveling kit, at full lock when I am backing up the left front tire rubs on the splash gaurd just the smallest amount, so a leveling kit would certainley help, but they do fit without any changes..
I think small rim big tire looks the best on a 4x4 .20" rim=40" tire.I was disapointed when I found out 17"rims was as small of a rim on the 04.I would have went with 35's on 15 inch rims.Go with what looks good to you...

I agree. 20" wheels are for low riders (cars @ trucks), late model performance cars and SUV's, not for 4x4 trucks. Low profile tires (anything below 60 series) hurt off road ability and ride quality. IMO, they look bad too.
I think these rims will look good on a 4 inch rancho lift with 35" tires. Centerline does make a 17 x 8.5.

I am old school. 20" rims can look good, but they don't make the truck look like or perform like a true off road vehicle. They look like show trucks (the truck above looks nice). They will not perform as well either. Lower side walls reduce traction over uneven and loose surfaces. Big tires allow off roaders to adjust tire pressure for the terrain. Slap some 38" + tires on those 20's and install an 8-10" lift and you would have a off road monster (lol).
I love low profile tires on 20" and bigger wheels on 4X2 F150's (especially the SVT Editions and 2000 - 2001 Harley Editions).
I wish I can slop on 38" tires, but for the crossfires w/6inch backspace, the highest 04F150 can go is 4" Rancho lift. So I have to settle with Toyo Open Country M/T 35 X 12.5/20. The tires look small in the picture.
Is there still people around that do more then 50% of their driving off-road? if not, I can't justify driving around on noisy *** mud terrain type tires.
I still use 4wd alot, towing, on the beach, etc... 20'' wheels or not, I can still go just about anywhere I feel the need too..
I am between choosing a 20" Kaiser wheel and nitto 404 305/50/20....or the Yoko 502 in the same size. I also like the look of the grappler but almost never go off road. Just some muddy or snow covered job sites. I want a tire that is quiet and smooth riding. The goodies lt275/65/18 I have now are horrible! Pi** me off every time I get in the truck.....It took a while to pick the Kaiser pyramid wheels now I got to decide what tires..I do like the grappler's in the 305/55/20 but not sure on the ride or noise.... I am also used to good handling cars and thought the performance-highway tire would be good for this.....
