I have a 1998 Ford extended cab Ranger with split bench seat. The plastic shaft on the handle that adjusts the seat back and forth and also tilts it broke. Fords better idea! Does anyone know where to buy parts for this? Ford won't sell this part, it's been updated and they want $126.40 for a new one. I wonder if there is a recall on this, does anyone know of a web site to check on recalls?
Have you checked the online store here at FTE? Don't know if they carry it, but its worth a look...

I remember doing a few of these on Explorers, though never a Ranger. I think they were covered under warranty and not a TSB/Recall. Though it would not hurt to pursue that course for over $100.00. They are not that tough to replace and you can do it with normal tools, if you had to go junkyard hunting.
I have a 99 Ford Ranger XLT and my plastic seat adjustment handle broke also. I took it in to my local dealer (I am second owner) and they replaced it free under warranty. Luckily, I still had a few miles to go before the warranty ran out.
ALL Chevy S-10s have broken seat handles...and I mean ALL of them. It was a GM recall. Very few Ford Rangers have this problem, and the ones that do are usually the result of abuse. Check a junkyard for a '99 model Ranger and get one off of one of those wrecked trucks. It'll be cheaper that way.
