I installed both the APC projector headlights and clear corner lenses on my truck. the headlights were installed last February and the corners at the same time, but after the first mudding excursion the corners filled with mud. i put up with them until about two weeks ago, and replaced the corners with the same product. yesterday i went mudding and the corners filled up with mud again and the headlights got muddy water in them too. at 65 bucks a pair for the corners and 400+ for the headlights, i am more than a little miffed. I have TYC taillights and they have survived for two years with not so much as a bead of water vapor. Anyone know of a good way to clean out light housings?
I was stupid enough to actually buy APC taillights, not once, but twice. Both pairs filled up with water. On one set, the seam where the front is glued to the back came apart.
At least I was smart enough to keep my stock pieces.
I had them, but once I looked them over, I decided against installing them.
Although I thought they looked cool, it seemed like there could be moisture problems and I didn't think for the price, I should use a tube of sealer on them....
My dad put APC clear headlamps and clear corners and they didn't even come close to fitting. One side was close enough to mesage into place and the other was so far off he broke the plastic junk trying to get it in. Sent them back saying they were damaged and got now ones. The same junk on the second set. His corners have moisture and the adjustment on the drivers side is broke. Just so you all don't think he is a hack. He is a mechanic of 40 years. APC is just plain CRAP.
on the installation job...mine fit perfectly after the necessary removal of some of the material in the headlight bucket area. did your dad cut out some of his radiator support as was detailed in the instructions? i know several people around here complaining to me about the F150 version of the APC lights, and when i went to help them, they had not cut out the areas specified. everything fit and looked almost factory, so much so that not a whole lot of people seemed to notice them. a few non-gearheads who owned SDs thought i had a special edition or something.
anyone know of a good place besides ebay and the dealer to get the 03 and up headlights? i wonder if the 05 headlights would work with some modifications to the radiator support....since the hood and fenders appear to be the same.
i got apc headlights, clear corners, and taillights and they fit perfect and dont leak or fill with water i like them alot.
i liked mine alot too, and as i said, they do fit like factory however...do you take your truck offroad, ie mudding and river running? my first set filled with muddy water from the river, my second set of clear corners and my first set of headlights filled with muddy water from mudding. i hadnt taken my truck offroad for awhile because of a new paintjob, so my headlights lasted almost 6 mos. i expected them to last the life of the truck due to the 400 dollar price tag.
