87 ranger question
i have a 87 ranger with 2.8 multiport fuel injection. the motor is shot and i have a 2.8 throttle body motor i want to put in. my question is will the original computer run the efi engine or will i have to change it? and do you know if i change the intake to keep the mpi set up do i have to change heads? thanks for your help

87 Rangers were originally equipped with 2.9L multiport injection motors. The 2.8L engine is a totally different animal with respect to heads, intake, injection and computer interface. My humbe recommendation is to stick with the 2.9 multiport.

ok the motor is a 3.8 throttle body motor. im putting it in a 87 ranger that was 2.9 multiport. will this work and what mounts will i need/ the ranger is a conversion from the factory i think and is set on a 1/2 ton frame. the motor will set in but the mounts wont work they are from a 87 mustang. im thinking i need v8 mounts but im not sure maybe you hae done thisswap. or maybe you know how. thanks brian
