Glad to be in such great company. I have gained tremendously valuable information which helped me turn a derelict truck into a depenable hauler. My screen name says it all except that the subject vehicle is a 1988 XLT Lariat extened cab.

My plans are to increase tire size, ride height or both. I have a pretty high gear which revs my engine more than I would like at highway speeds. I replaced the entire a/c sytem and it blows cold with R132. I just replace the deteriorating exhaust with duals from the stock manifolds run through mellow-tone mufflers. It is smog delete and runs much better with a deep big-block tone. I have some fuel gauge issues to work out, which I am finding is not uncommon. The egr was stuck with broken vacuum lines everywhere. I cleaned the egr valve and replaced the vacuum lines with bulk material. I no longer get codes...the computer is happy and I'm up to 9 MPG from 6 MPG.

Anyway, thanks go out to everyone who posts great questions and the variety of opinions and facts posted as replies. Opinions are often a source of out of the box thinking that can connect the right dots to find a solution. They are also a source for entertainment which is a welcome diversion from what might otherwise be a dry Q&A session.

My hope is that I will be able to add insights that in some small way will help others as they have helped me.
